The report is prepared exclusively for the survey client (person ordering and paying for the work) and will not be released to 3rd parties without the clients direction to do so, typically, insurance agents, lenders, documentation services, and 3rd parties, acting on the survey clients behalf to arrange the previous. Scope Of Survey. The vessel will receive moisture meter testing of exterior fiberglass & wood, freeboards, decks, cabin tops and superstructure. The hull bottom (wetted surface area) will receive percussion testing if a haul out inspection is part of the survey. The interior hull (bilge areas) and hull stiffeners will receive visual, moisture meter and percussion testing. The through hulls, fittings & hoses will be inspected. The exterior metal of the running gear and through hulls will be inspected for corrosion if a haul out inspection is part of the survey. All operational systems will be tested unless otherwise stated in the report. The engines will be put through a general performance test if a sea trial is part of the survey and the meter reading noted. General maneuvering test will be performed if a sea trial is part of the survey. The ship papers will be inspected. The entire vessel will receive inspection for compliance with mandatory standards promulgated by the United States Coast Guard under 46 & 33 CFR, and voluntary standards published by American Boat & Yacht Council and National Fire Protection Association. The surveyor will determine if the vessel is suitable for its intended service (designed use) and if the vessel is suitable for the clients intended use. Engine oil and marine gear oil will be sampled and sent for analyses if requested by the client. Engine compression test can be performed on a case-by-case basis. If the vessel is a sailing vessel the rigging will be inspected aloft if the surveyor deems it safe to go aloft. Exclusions Of the Survey. The survey is general in nature and reflects the conditions observed at the time of the survey only. The survey is completed without removing fixed panels, decks, partitions, tanks or equipment. No destructive boring or core sampling is done. The engines and mechanical systems are inspected without performing technical test or dissembling parts. The client is always encouraged to seek an independent marine engine surveyor or mechanic for mechanical inspections. Some systems may not be tested due to constraints imposed by location, condition or by owners instructions. Overboard pumps of holding tanks will not be tested nor will bilge pumps if the bilge water is oily. Electronics are tested for power up and basic display, full testing of all features is beyond the scope of the survey. Areas of the vessel and systems which cannot be accessed without using destructive means will not be inspected. There may be hidden conditions or conditions not readily apparent at the time of the survey which could contribute to a hazard in the future under conditions involving inherent vice, deteriorations, latent defects, leaks, weather, sea condition, marine growth, and negligence of operation for which Calahan & Company accepts no responsibility. As the survey reflects the condition of the vessel at the time of the survey only, the surveyor will not be responsible for conditions or changes to the vessel or equipment arising after the survey. As no internal engine inspection is carried out the surveyor does not guarantee engine condition. The surveyor shall not be held responsible for minor errors, omissions or mis-statements in the survey report. Claims regarding Calahan & Company’s performance will be limited to the cost of the survey. By execution of this work order the survey client agrees to the terms set forth in the work order. The survey client aggress to obligate himself for payment of the marine survey performed in the amount agreed herein. In the event the survey client fails to make said payment he shell be liable to Calahan & Company for all cost and expenses, including attorney fees incurred in the collection of said debt. It is further agreed that Florida shall be the location of any forum to settle any disputes in connection with the marine survey. *I understand and accept the condition of the survey as stated above (check to indicate)
